North, S-South Will Make Atiku President – Dele

With barely two weeks to the presidential election, the Peoples Democratic Party Campaign Council has tipped its candidate, Atiku Abubakar to win the poll, predicting him to garner majority votes in the entire North and the South-South zone of the country.

This Director, Strategic Communication, National Election Management Committee of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Momodu, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja.

In a statement entitled, “How Atiku Abubakar will become the next president of Nigeria,” Momodu described polls and surveys predicting victory for other candidates as fundamentally flawed, due to what he called their “over-reliance on technology in a largely illiterate population.

Justifying his reason for an Atiku’s victory, the publisher reckoned that “A presidential candidate cannot depend totally on votes from outside his home base to win this election. It is a fact of history that whenever the south produced two strong candidates, the dominant northern candidate won, such as in 1979 and 1983, Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe versus Shehu Shagari.

Tinubu Promises To Revive Ajaokuta

The presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has pledged that if elected into office he will ensure the revival of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex in Kogi State, in addition to other critical projects.

Speaking at the APC campaign rally in Lokoja, Kogi State capital on Wednesday, Tinubu said his government would prioritise the development of mineral resources in the North Central state, in addition to dredging the River Niger which will allow ships to berth in inland ports.

“Hope is here. Ajaokuta resuscitation will be done. Dredging of Niger River will be done. Agriculture will be the source of our prosperity. North Central has the potential for great mineral industrialization, we will work on that, ” he said.

Tinubu also felicitated with the people of Kogi and other Nigerians over the Supreme Court judgment on the currency swap impasse, saying those who wanted to take advantage of the situation have failed.

Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai of Kaduna State has urged citizens to be calm and continue to transact with the old Naiira notes alongside the new notes, saying the new monetary policy would be the first thing Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu would revisit when he becomes president.

Speaking in Hausa at an event with leaders of market associations in Kaduna, the Governor said .

everyone, especially people in Kaduna should not be disturbed because of the Naira swap deadline.

Continue running your businesses and daily activities with whatever notes you have.We will make sure to address this problem as soon as we win the election. That will be the first issue to tackle if we win the election.”

“Don’t rush yourself into taking old Naira notes to the bank and wasting your time on queues . Nobody can stop you from using the notes. When we come to power, (Insha Allah), if Bola Tinubu becomes the president, we’ll give people more time to get rid of the old naira notes,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government has said it has uncovered plans for massive protests and appealed for caution and vigilance by all citizens, amidst the prevailing situation arising from the ongoing cash swap and currency redesign policy.
